Demonstrating the commitment and student engagement, which is so relevant in the process of affirming the postgraduate program within the academy, was the main objective of the enlarged meeting of the multidisciplinary graduate program in culture and Society of the Federal University of Bahia (post-culture/IHAC/UFBA), held on April 08, 2019.
The meeting, which officiated the preparatory actions of the post-culture for the four-year evaluation of the coordination of improvement of higher education personnel (Capes), which will take place in 2021, was marked by the launching of the POSCULTURE-SE institutional action!. The movement POSCULTURE-SE!, which will be implemented in social networks, aims to value the researches carried out in the post-culture, with dissemination of the efforts that are being undertaken by the collegiate and the community of the program to conquer excellence.
Attended the Director of the Institute of Humanities Arts and Sciences Professor Milton Santos (IHAC), Messiah Bandeira, the pro-rector of research, creation and innovation and post-graduation teaching of UFBA, Olival Freire, the coordinator of post-graduation education , Sérgio Luís Costa Ferreira, the coordinator and co-vice of post-culture, José Roberto Severino and Leandro Colling, respectively, and member of the Collegiate, Adriano Sampaio, besides the students representatives Igor Souza, PhD, and Uri Menezes, of Masters.
In addition to the official student representation, the expressive presence of the post-culture students ' body marked the meeting and drew the attention of the pro-Rector who reinforced the importance of student engagement in the construction and improvement of the program. "I had never seen this happen before in a collegiate meeting. Have been welcomed with the presence of so many students, "says Freire.
The broad student participation is a reflection of the POSCULTURE-SE movement, built by the students of the post-culture, which aims to stimulate the actions of students and professors on institutional issues that, traditionally, are the responsibility of teachers and Servers.
#POSCULTURESE!
The POSCULTURE movement-SE! It comprises a series of institutional actions, launched by students, in partnership with the coordination of the program, to mobilize broadly the internal and external community, through a coparticipatory process. To this end, three work commissions were created that, in a collaborative way, will stimulate affirmative activities of post-culture. One focused on communication planning, another dedicated to the planning of academic events and the third, administrative. This intends to collaborate with data collection, reception and evaluation of documents and collection of deadlines to professors and students.
At the time, the collegiate and the students presented to the pro-rector and to the coordinator, Sérgio Luís Costa Ferreira, a general overview of the main institutional issues related to scientific production and publication, defenses, faculty performance, evaluation Of the graduates and notices, among them, the institutional internationalization program (Capes Print), which is in the selective phase.
To close the meeting, the pro-Rector requested testimonials from the students to understand the presence so effective. The commissions and student representatives presented and explained their objectives and the planning and steps already implemented so far. "Our action has already begun and soon the social networks will be filled with information about our production, how good it is to be part of this program and how we have research and extension of a lot of quality," emphasizes Gina Reis, member of the Communication Committee.
"The creation of the multidisciplinary graduate program in Culture and society was a bold bet of the UFBA," the pro-rector says. It is this daring that extends today to the body that makes up the post. And it is in this sense that the students feel fit and free to cooperate, actively participate and modify the history of the program leaving, in addition to the texts of their researches, a brand in production movements and work contribution. The true collegiate body should allow this democratic management and benefit from its benefits. Everybody wins.
